I graduated from college a semester early and started teaching 7th grade a few days later in Feb. One of the first questions the students asked me was “Can we have a Valentine box?” I said “Sure”, remembering the Valentines shared in my day. The next day I received a phone call from the principal asking me to come see him in his office. He told me that they don’t do that in Jr. High. The students in other home rooms had heard about it and the news had reached him. He was very nice about it and said that we could have the Valentine box, but not to have refreshments.
